A celebration of a variety of art forms

The Accidental Festival is a new festival of arts curated by Central School of Speech & Drama's Performance Arts Students, exploding into the ICA, London this May.

We aim to create a celebration of a variety of art forms, produced by a wide array of artists. They will range from established companies to the most innovative and undiscovered talents, within London and internationally. This festival will be energetic, unique and insightful. We are committed to representing the ever-changing artistic climate, culminating in a colourful collection of work that we call The Accidental Festival.

The Accidental Festival was founded in 2006, and opened in June at The ICA, London. The festival was a huge success, and included work and mentoring from acclaimed artists such as Blind Summit, who recently worked on Anthony Minghella’s production of Madame Butterfly for the ENO, and Punchdrunk who are currently enjoying great success with their production of Faust.

This year the festival returns, bigger and better, with a larger team, more artists a new venue and a full education programme. Watch this space!

Mission Statement

The Accidental Festival aims to create a celebration of a variety of art forms, produced by a rich cross section of artists. They will range from established organisations to the most innovative and novel talents, within London and internationally.

These new works, from a diverse collection of writers, performers and artists, will be interspersed with discussion and debates by professionals from an assortment of art-forms. This will allow inquisitive minds to reflect on what they have just encountered, challenging the way they consider art and performance. We will never be afraid of risking a heated debate.

Our festival’s international aspect, in union with educational and community elements will help form a creative link between a multicultural body of artists. In this way we will have an opportunity to share and create new work, as well as forming opportunities for collaborations in the future.

We aim to attract a fresh audience through innovative promotion, the reputation of our own work and that of the professional companies involved. This festival will be energetic, unique and insightful. We are committed to representing the ever-changing artistic climate, culminating in a colourful collection of work that we call The Accidental Festival!
