Two Films from the Archive
Pairing its latest James Bond acquisition, Tomorrow Never
Dies (1997), with one of its earliest, From Russia with
Love (1963), the Department of Film and Media celebrates
its collection of Bond films. Beginning in 1987 when
producer Albert "Cubby" Broccoli generously donated
fourteen newly struck James Bond prints to the Museum's
film archive, the collection has grown over the last
fourteen years to include almost every 007 film ever
made. Bond films have been recognized for their action,
special effects, exotic locales, and plots paralleling
international events. James Bond, a cultural icon for
forty-nine years, lives on as the embodiment of
sophistication and dry wit.
