Now in its sixth year, Art Forum Berlin - The
International Fair for Contemporary Art - takes place
at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from October 3rd
through October 7th, 2001. Organized by the
European Galleries Projektgesellschaft mbH and the
Messe Berlin GmbH, Art Forum Berlin clearly
established itself as one of the most courageous and
focused international art fairs in its first five years.
This year under the patronage of Julian
Nida-Rümelin, The Federal Government
Commissioner for Cultural Affairs and the Media,
approximately 170 galleries from 28 countries
present today's most crucial tendencies in
contemporary art on 16,000 square meters of
exhibition space. In addition, individual presentations
reflecting positions taken in 1960's and 1980's and
still relevant today will be integrated into the overall
theme.
Selected each year by a new international
admissions committee, galleries exhibiting at Art Forum Berlin are arranged alphabetically and
feature both the stars of the international art scene
and more recent, yet to be discovered talents. This
singular format affords visitors a particularly clear
and concentrated view of the current status of
contemporary art.
