A Fort Point Projection
PART OF THE FORT POINT CULTURAL COALITION (FPCC) PUBLIC ART SERIES
(Boston) Projecting video footage high above our heads, onto the
Necco Street overpass, Mitch Rosenberg wants to show us the true face
of the Fort Point Channel as it contends with an uncertain future.
Rosenberg has spent the past five years as a member of the Fort Point
Channel artistic community, using video and new media to bring public
awareness to issues often hidden from sight. Now, as part of the 2001
Fort Point Open Studios and the Fort Point Cultural Coalition Public
Art Series, he brings that experience to work against the forces
dismantling the largest artist community in New England ... and his
home. This multiple video mix (edited live on the spot) will feature
the images and views of everyone from the activists and artists
raising their voices against being "thrown out" to the very
developers that they are protesting against. Promising a "montage of
corporate greed in action," he will dramatize the housing and studio
crisis in the Fort Point community using videos from public meetings
and private interviews as well as artwork and happenings from
throughout the neighborhood.
(Bio.) Mitch Rosenberg is a video and new media artist who has worked
extensively with the AIDS community and several other arts, cultural,
and youth outreach organizations in the city of Boston. Mitch
received an MFA from Massachusetts College of Art in the Studio for
Interrelated Media and a BFA in Video and Experimental Studio from
Hartford Art School.
