The UK’s Most Stylish Fair for Contemporary and Modern Art

Art London – the UK’s most stylish fair for contemporary and modern art – returns in 2007 for its 9th year. Art London will run from Thursday 4th to Monday 8th October 2007, with the official preview taking place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd October.
The fair showcases over 75 leading UK and international galleries – encompassing painting, sculpture, photography, works on paper, ceramics and glass – with prices ranging from £500 to £250,000.

The venue is a 65,000 square foot marquee set in the grounds of The Royal Hospital, Chelsea, London SW3. Due to the ever increasing number of exhibitors showing historically significant works, the organisers are once again dedicating a section of the fair to twentieth century and modern art.
Art London 2007 promises established greats juxtaposed with fresh new talent, presenting a diverse range of exhibiting galleries from Argentina, Australia, France and Hong Kong.

Confirmed so far for Art London 2007:

The Special Exhibition is dedicated to a unique twenty-first century sculpture archive which has been maintained by the Cass Sculpture Foundation. The show entitled ‘Enabling the Future: Drawings, Maquettes and Sculpture from the Cass Sculpture Foundation’ features a selection of drawings and maquettes donated by commissioned artists including Tony Cragg, Antony Gormley and Andy Goldsworthy. This exhibition has previously been seen at the Guggenheim museum in Venice and at the Noordbrabants Museum in Hertogenbosch, Holland and contains original works which will be shown publicly for the first time in the UK at Art London.

The Cass Sculpture Foundation is a registered charity acknowledged throughout the world as the home of 21st century British sculpture. Set up to advance British sculpture, the Foundation's aim and consistent focus is to enable the future of British sculpture today. To achieve this it commissions, displays, promotes internationally and sells, sculptures to a diverse range of buyers from around the world - from private collectors, to individual enterprises, to public spaces, to the business community at large - and over 160 monumental sculptures have been commissioned and sold around the world in the last 15 years.
For the first time, Marlborough Fine Art is exhibiting at Art London and is showcasing works from a selection of artists including Frank Auerbach, Maggi Hambling, Pablo Picasso, John Virtue and Clive Head.
Richard Goodall Gallery, which is showing works on paper by the renowned singer – songwriter Leonard Cohen. These limited edition pigment prints are displayed for the first time in London at the fair and are exclusive to the Richard Goodall Gallery.

Nordic ArtWorks, which specialises in the best of contemporary Scandinavian art, is showcasing works by Marjukka Vainio and Sandra Kantanen, both of whom studied at the University of Art & Design in Helsinki and were taught by Jyrki Parantainen whose work will also be on display. Together they form part of the renowned Helsinki School of photographers.
Agnew’s, one of the oldest family-run galleries is celebrating its 190th anniversary this year, and is presenting a number of works from its twentieth century and contemporary art department. Artists include John Kelly and Christopher P Wood.

After a sell out show at Christie’s in June where lots far exceeded their pre-sale estimates, Everard Read will be exhibiting a selection of new works by Dylan Lewis based on the human form.
Narwhal Inuit Art Gallery which is showing works by a selection of Inuit artists including Annie Pootoogook. By depicting everyday scenes and common beliefs Annie uses her drawings to educate the world about the Inuit way of life.

Portland Gallery, which is showing works by Alexander Cresswell, a colourist who has previously been commissioned by HM the Queen to produce a series of 10 watercolours to record the devastation caused by the fire at Windsor Castle in 1992.
John Martin Gallery, which is presenting a solo show of works by Leon Morrocco entitled ‘Morrocco’s Morocco’.
Albemarle Gallery, which is curating a solo exhibition of the Montenegrin artist Vojo Stanić, his first show in the UK.
