Nickla. "The photographic approach presumes a distance, a highly particular space time. The photographer carries out an inventory with technical equipment that is both cold and direct. Yet through his gaze what ought to have been a mere recording becomes a quest for time, for the past... for a person." (A. Quetsch)

A man, now 89 years old, having spent his whole life in the furthermost reaches of Belgium...With the exception of war-time mobilisation, never did he leave his little farm.
A farm located in the eastern cantons, a place he lived his whole life long.
Today, for the second time, he was obliged to leave his house. The emptiness in his wake leaves an aura of loss... As if taking stock of what remains.
