Sonderschauen 2009 / special exhibitions 2009

Special exhibition I first floor G/11
Hermann Nitsch – graphic prints
„Anatomy and Architecture of the orgy-myth-theatre”
Courtesy of Gallery Rhomberg, Innsbruck – Austria

The mixture of materials and techniques like ink, chalk drawing and etching practised Hermann Nitsch with huge effort. The printer, Karl Imhof, was occupied for seven years with the lithography of “The Architecture of the orgy-myth-theatre I + II”. The folders included mazy drawings, which were intended for a subterranean theatre and reminded of human entrails. This represents a huge theoretical foundation of Hermann Nitsch’s complete art work. The lithography of “The anatomy of the orgy-myth-theatre” is besides the “The architecture of the orgy-myth-theatre” also shown. It is exceptional how the medium of lithography was used. Lithography, etching, line block is partly mixed and printed as one piece. An example for this would be the “scan n.28”: All 54 boards of lithographies were printed upon each other and afterwards painted afresh. His work of folders consists of several folders and plans which are shown in extracts very representative.

Special exhibition II – Groundfloor Hall 4 – E/03
Essential - real conceivability
A project from Alexandra Maria Heinz und Thomas Riess
Young art from Tyrol – Courtesy of the City Innsbruck / Country Tyrol – Curator AR Horst Burmann

For the upcoming special exhibition “Young Art” of the ART International Fair for Contemporary Art INNSBRUCK 09, which is sponsored by the country Tyrol and the city Innsbruck, were two in Vienna living artists called Alexandra Maria Heinz and Thomas Riess invited. These two artists, who exhibited already together for the Department of Fine Arts in New Orleans last October, will present a bride spectrum of media. Besides graphic, photography and video a new form of painting will be shown.

The art works of Riess embrace the primary fields of a human being: Localizing of interior and exterior, this so called reality and the invisible. He mixes up pictures of everyday life with an intangible, unknowable world. It seems that objectivity and shine, reality and fiction merge. With a picture language containing many metaphors he puts given and real facts as well as the Unreal into question.
The works that the painter and graphic, Thomas Riess, is showing at this exhibition are made with correction ribbon on acryl based canvas.

The close relation to philosophy reflects in Alexandra Maria Heinz. In the beginning is the spiritual occupation – mostly a question – which is widely expressed in her drafts. The chosen media and forms, which present further revised drafts, embrace amongst others: room installations, sound, film, performance and objects and were extracted with adequate questioning.

Special exhibition III – Upper floor G/10
Wolfgang Zingerle
Informal art, sculpture, action art, land-art installations
Courtesy of bewrong KG, Bruneck-Italy

The latest huge project of the artist called “GOLD TARGET (Percha/Bruneck)” arose within the parallel events to Manifesta7 2008 in Trentino – South Tyrol, he considers himself in this project as catalyser between architecture, culture, history and present. The gilding of a pillar from 1896, which was a target of the allied bombs during 2nd World War due to the location in a strategic important connecting line, saved this important monument of cultural history from demolition and was changed into a social sculpture.

This diversified work could be subsumed under the art theoretical keywords like Informal art, sculpture, action art, land-art installations, but at the same time it goes beyond these terms.

The Im /Expressionism is very important in his informal art, which implies the component of uncontrolled impulses.
The contemplator experiences in entirety an impressive example of an impulsively painting technique in a special way for intuitive construction, free from any concreteness. The nativeness of the creator earns just as well a central moment – it is not only filtered by thought-processes and subjected to composition rules before expressing; thereby the opportunity is subjected to share the original process with the subject and the contemplator.
