The Island, London
For its launch the gallery presents a few drawings, projects and a model by American artist Dan Graham, which are used as methods to establish an open dialogue with what there is and what art can do, in unlimited ways, to affect what there is.
Under Construction is the title of the inaugural show at The Island, a project being launched in an artist’s studio located in London’s East End.
The exhibition Under Construction intends to create a moment in which ideas for the use of the space can be stimulated.
In fact, The Island replaces a former photographic dark room, located in the basement of the building, which shares similar characteristics to those of an isolation cell due to its particular dimensions and absence of windows. Following the specified attributes, the space will be presented to the public in its original state, unaffected by redevelopments or redecorations.
