Temporary Inconvenience

Kartal Bulent Ecevit Cultural Center, Istanbul

The new exhibition starts its Istanbul Tour in Kartal as a part of the project "Portable Arts" launched in October 2008 by the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Visual Arts Directorate for the purpose of carrying the contemporary arts to different areas of Istanbul. The project targets to alter the ordinary view of artists with stimuli coming from venues both familiar and strange; and to change the audience's perspective with a contemporary art experience that shows their familiar world from a different point. To this end, it turns the exhibition space into an art laboratory. Works by Turan Aksoy, Volkan Aslan, Nancy Atakan, Kerem Ozan Bayraktar, Orhan Cem Cetin, Genco Gulan, Okay Karadayilar, Ali Taptik, Gamze Ozer, Irem Tok and Mehmet Ali Uysal in an attempt to discover new aspects of pluralist realities by asking questions, discussing and criticizing about unknown places of an unknown city.
