The new generation of artists that emerged.
in Poland during the past decade of major political change has expressed deep
concern about its status in the new social/political context.
The critical
stance of these artists toward the new democratic system appears to be one of
the significant undercurrents of contemporary art in Poland.
The lecture will
discuss Polish art of the 90s and will cover and interpret elements of this
visual culture within an emerging democracy.
It will reflect the meaning of
citizenship as expressed through contemporary art and the dynamics of its
definition.
