A Solo Show. Video, sound installations and a new piece: The Choir
This is the first major solo exhibition
of the work of LEI COX to be seen
in Scotland. Based in Dundee, Cox
exhibits video and sound
installations nationally and
internationally and in this exhibition
he will premiere a new piece, The
Choir. Using computer software, Lei
Cox creates and manipulates multiple moving images of
himself which are viewed on multiple screens and monitors.
Cox is interested in exploring the impact that technology
and science has on society and how its members think and
operate. He is also interested in the possibilities of being in
more than one place at the same time - a phenomenon
that he achieves by manipulating his digital self.
In Wave, Cox multiplies and synchronises a single
movement to create the effect of a Mexican wave, whilst
in The Conductor, multiple images of the artist clapping
position the viewer as the focus of the applause. Lei Cox
currently lectures in Time Based Art at the Duncan of
Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee.
