Project for the exhibition Bound/less Borders was initiated by Goethe Institut in Belgrade and in Munich, as a reflection of democratic cultural and political changes in Yugoslavia as well as of actual processes of opening and re-establishing of the dialogue with other areas of Balkan and Europe.

By the end of the '90 and beginning of 2000 has been organized a series of European manifestations which dealt with historical aspects and contemporary art production of post-communist countries. Within this exhibitions Balkan countries were particularly present and always provoked great political interest.

Democratic changes in Yugoslavia on the end of the year 2000 initiated again interest for re-considering Balkan region with final opening on political, economical and cultural level. Connecting the Balkans on cultural level is becoming a necessity and inspiration in a new process of establishing the open relations between Balkan countries. This became indubitable and positive motive for starting an initiative by Goethe Institute to organize a huge, "boundless" cultural manifestation in the open space of all Balkan countries.

Project Bound/less Borders is conceived as an outdoor exhibition, in the public space of the city, which will present artists from Balkan countries belonging to Stability pact: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Romania. About forty artists will realize for this project large scale digital prints installed on city billboards and on the façades of the buildings. Exhibition Bound/less Borders will be itinerary and after Belgrade will be realized in other Balkan countries during the year 2002. Also partly will be presented in Kassel in 2002 / 2003 within historical exhibition about art and culture in Balkan region which is preparing and curating Rene Block, director of the Fridirizianum Museum.
