Urban-Lab is a transient vessel of communication for anyone with an interest
in exploring the urban landscape. We operate on the periphery of
conventional architectural and urban concepts. The bond is a fascination
with the social, political and cultural layers that construct our
contemporary urban landscape. Urban-Lab intends to add to current debate
through the development of events that challenge the heart of our quotidian
existence.
[UR]banality has been organised to coincide with Architecture Week 2002,
which runs from 21st June - 1st July. (However the exhibition runs until
5th July) We are occupying the Chapel space of Studio Voltaire, an artist
run gallery just off Clapham High Street. The exhibition encompasses nine
artists exploring, experimenting and observing a number of different aspects
that construct our experiences as we navigate the every day built
environment. The work ranges from performance, installation, film,
photography, sculpture, and painting. Our intention is to use media that is
not generally associated with traditional architectural practices.
