2501 and Bera White

Galo Art Gallery, Torino

The Galo Art Gallery is proud to announce the opening of the next show on the 3erd of June 2010 with 2501 and Bera White. These two artist are both based in Milan and have an exciting and eclectic style that they will bring to the Galo Art Gallery.

The colors and lines of these two artists bring forms together that will make heads turn and will chill the Galo Art Gallery during the month of June. 2501 and Bera White have both had years of experience in the field and have traveld the lengths to acquire their unique style. They can be seen as having similar styles and that is what brings them together for the show “Double Trouble” in the Galo Art Gallery from the 3rd of June till the 26th of June.

BIOGRAPHY 2501
Jacopo Ceccarelli aka 2501 was born in Milan in 1981.
He started to paint at the young age of 14 and never gave up working on the walls of his own city, Milan. First with the Tag of Robot Inc (with this name he was published on the Tristan Manco’s book “Street Logo”/ Thems and Hudson) and then as 2501 he started a new style that put together wall painting, paint on canvas, sculpture's and video.

He moved to Sao Paolo at the age of 20 where he got in contact with all of the South American graffiti school (Os Gemeos, Herbert Baglione, Higraff, Zezao etc. etc...) changing his approach to painting completely.
Back in Milan, between 2004 and 2007 he was member of llloolll studio, mainly working with web-design, motion graphic, and much more. He also studied film editing at the “Civica Scuola di Cinema” in Milan.
In 2007 he moved for the 2nd time to Sao Paolo and started to focus just on his artistic career .
He joined various exhibitions and books about street art such as :''Art of rebellion 3" , Dunk Windows (nike IT),"The Urban Edge show" (Milan) , "Urban Affair" (Berlin).

He won in 2009 the "Metropolis art prize" in New York with the video "mask" (The jury :Isabella Rosselini, Cedar Lewisohn curator of the show "Street Art" Tate Modern London 2008, Lee Wells curator of the expo "Multi-Channel Video Installation" State Hermitage Museum St. Petersburg, Russia 2008 and Howard Halle editor Time out new york ) that was screened in Time Square on December 17 2009.
He currently lives and works between Milan, Berlin and Sao Paolo.

BIOGRAPHY Bera White
Bera was born in Milazzo , Sicily, in 1981 .
She grew up in a small village in the middle of the Sicilian countryside , where at a young age she started to experiment with different medias : music, dance, painting, graffiti.

At the age of 18 she moved to Milan where she attended the New School of Fine Art, focusing her attention on photography and etching, constantly contaminating one by the other. In these years of study she made her first experiment with photo-etching,creating an original reinterpretation of reality. The decisive push came the year she spent studying at the School of Fine Art in Lisbon in 2004, where she had her first encounter with screen printing , which she constantly mixed with photography, becoming a constant source of experimentation in her artistic career.

In Portugal she made an enormous amount of prints connected with social themes, that soon led her to the first paste ups , slowly the paste ups turned into complex mixed media posters, choosing as settings abandoned buildings and forgotten places,this was the beginning of a process that led her from paste ups to pure painting , from abandoned buildings to empty factories.

After graduating in 2005 she spent some time travelling in the United States, Asia and Australia, returning to Milan at the end of 2006 she obtained a phd in photography.
Bera White currently works at “Le Raclet” screen printing studio, a meeting point for artists from all over the country, a place that involves different styles and sources of inspiration: from photography to street art, to pure painting.
