Dynasty

Two Venues, Paris

Dynasty's multiplicity of media and stylistic approaches highlights all the dynamism of a generation and the sheer diversity of concerns extending from the future of machine-man to a realism embracing the private, the political and the social. Improvised materials are given fresh cachet, while the use of computers and the digital brings radical change to our perception of space and objects. The project is a logical extension of the forward-looking agenda pursued since 1977 in ARC's Workshops series at the Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, and Modules at the Palais de Tokyo. Curated by Fabrice Hergott and Marc-Olivier Wahler.

1 exhibition, 2 venues, 40 artists, 80 projects: «Dynasty» is the outcome of an innovative joint venture involving the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris/ARC and the Palais de Tokyo.

In an original stereophonic presentation, the participating artists are occupying the two exhibition spaces in their entirety, with one project or work in each. Dynasty’s multiplicity of media and stylistic approaches highlights all the dynamism of a generation and the sheer diversity of concerns extending from the future of machine-man to a realism embracing the private, the political and the social. Improvised materials are given fresh cachet, while the use of computers and the digital brings radical change to our perception of space and objects.

The project is a logical extension of the forward-looking agenda pursued since 1977 in ARC’s Workshops series at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, and Modules at the Palais de Tokyo. Offering an overview of the young French art scene – including French artists living abroad and foreign artists living in France – the exhibition testifies to the rise in Paris and France generally of art schools, art centres, the Regional Contemporary Art Collections and alternative venues.
