A new collaborative project where four international artists - Phil Collins, Jeroen Kooijmans, David Noonan and Constanze Schweiger - collectively engage with portraiture. Contemplating fact, fiction and exposure, the artists have created portraits of each other, informed by their concerns with painting, photography and video. Resident developed out of conversations between the four artists while participating in PS1's international studio program.

Foxy Productions presents Resident, a new collaborative project where four
international artists - Phil Collins, Jeroen Kooijmans, David Noonan and
Constanze Schweiger - collectively engage with portraiture. Contemplating
fact, fiction and exposure, the artists have created portraits of each
other, informed by their concerns with painting, photography and video.
Resident developed out of conversations between the four artists while
participating in PS1's international studio program. They recently exhibited
at PS1 in 'Listening to New Voices', 2002.
Working in photography and video, Phil Collins is concerned with the effect
of socio-political conflict on individuals. Recent solo exhibitions include:
Bad Infinity, The Kerlin Gallery, Dublin (2002). Recent group shows include:
Conversations, Museum of Contemporary Art, Belgrade; Manifesta 3, Ljubljana;
Uniform, PS1, New York; Pitti Immagine, Florence (2001). Collins is based in
Belfast.
Jeroen Kooijmans' audio-visual work incorporates reality and fantasy. Recent
exhibitions include, Spinning, MIT List Visual Art Center, Boston; 'It's
about time', The New Museum, New York. Recent screenings include GAle GAtes
et al, New York; Thomas Erben Gallery, New York (2001/2). Kooijmans is a
Dutch artist, based in New York since 2000.
David Noonan works with the vocabulary of cinematic set design in film and
video, but also through sculptural installation and painting. Recent solo
exhibitions include: Waldhaus, Uplands Gallery, Melbourne (2002). Recent
group shows include, 'screen life', curated by Max Delany, Reina Sofia
Museum, Madrid (2002); 7th Istanbul Biennale, Istanbul, Turkey; 7th Istanbul
Biennale selection, Opera City Art Gallery, Tokyo (2001)
Noonan is based in Melbourne and New York.
Interested in physicality and moments of intimacy, Constanze Schweiger is an
Austrian artist who works in painting and photography. Recently exhibitions
include, New Gallery, Houston, Texas; Spike Gallery, NY; Künstlerhaus,
Salzburg (2002) Six Degrees of Separation, WAP, Vienna, (2001). Schweiger is
based in Vienna and New York.

Foxy Productions is a project space for contemporary art that provides a
focus for inter-disciplinary practices, interactive situations and
collaborative ventures. Foxy Productions is directed by Michael Gillespie
and John Thomson.
