Berkeley Gallery presents an exhibition of paintings by Holly Ann Sailors.
Holly Ann Sailors was born in a small town in Western North Carolina and is currently an artist working primarily in painting and printmaking. Sailors received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from East Carolina University in Painting and Drawing in 2009. Sailors is attending the New York Academy of Art for her Masters of Fine Arts in Painting. Sailors has received artist training at the University of Georgia, Savannah College of Art and Design, and Penland School of Crafts. Sailors has received many grants and residencies through the North Carolina Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. Sailors has exhibited regionally and internationally in solo and group shows.
Sailors “artwork embraces the use of symbolism, metaphor, illustration, and the narrative.” Sailors states that "As an artist I am accepting my attraction for visual excess. My work is decorative and uses religious imagery to explore the ever-present connection to ritual, tradition, and history.
