Venerdì 17 settembre 2010 Peep-Hole apre la nuova stagione espositiva con una mostra di Corrado Levi.

Corrado Levi è personaggio poliedrico: è architetto, teorico, critico, curatore, docente, libero pensatore e intellettuale colto. Ma Corrado Levi è anche e soprattutto artista, audace e spiazzante, la cui complessità linguistica e creativa è sintesi perfetta della molteplicità di esperienze che ha raccolto, fatto sue e restituito attraverso il contatto con differenti generazioni.

A partire dagli anni '80 Levi è stato un influente animatore culturale, specie a Milano, dove ha curato numerose mostre tra cui Il cangiante al PAC - Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea (1985). Fondamentale è stata inoltre per Milano l’esperienza del suo studio di Via San Gottardo, trasformato per anni in una palestra per giovani artisti dove l’alternarsi di mostre collettive e personali ha fatto dello studio di Levi il primo project space della città.

Per questo uno spazio come Peep-Hole deve anche a una figura come Corrado Levi la sua esistenza. La mostra è un modo per restituire, sia pur in minima parte, quello che lui ha dato agli spazi off e ai giovani artisti. Ma è anche e soprattutto un’occasione per sottolineare il suo spirito di instancabile sperimentatore, di giovane artista, capace di rinnovarsi ogni volta.

Per l’occasione Levi presenta Quasi, autoamori di Johnny e Una poesia. Un progetto inedito, mai esposto finora, sulla relazione tra erotismo e forma, poli fondamentali della sua ricerca artistica: "L’erotismo è cosa instabile, richiede movimento psichico e fisico, finisce e si rinnova daccapo, come senza tempo. L’oggetto della mostra è erotismo puro: senza Edipo, è metafora di piacere inutile ed indispensabile. La forma è l’altro polo: tende ad essere, comunicare, essenza e speranza di permanenza" (C.L).

Friday September 17th 2010, Peep-Hole opens the new season with a solo-show by Corrado Levi.

Corrado Levi is a polyhedric figure: architect and teacher, theorist and critic, curator, freethinker and refined intellectual. Still, Levi is mainly an audacious and surprising artist. His complex language and creativity are a perfect combination for the numerous experiences that the artist has gathered, made his own, and finally, given back to generations of artists.

Since the early 80's Levi has been an influential cultural animator especially in Milan, where he has curated many exhibitions including Il cangiante at the PAC - Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea (1985). The experiences at his studio on Via San Gottardo have also been crucial for the Milan art scene. During many years Levi transformed his studio through a series of solo and group shows into a space for experimentation for young artists that made Corrado Levi’s studio the first project-space in town.

For this reason Peep-Hole also owes its existence to the figure of Corrado Levi. The exhibition is a way to return, even though minimally, what he has done for alternative spaces and young artists. The show is also the occasion to highlight the spirit of a tireless experimenter and the youthfulness of an artist who is still able to renew himself over time.

Invited to interact with the physical space, Levi presents Quasi, autoamori di Johnny e Una poesia (Almost, Johnny’s self-loves and A poetry). A new project, exhibited here for the first time, around the relationship between eroticism and form, two of the main focuses of his artistic research: "Eroticism is something unstable; it requires mental and physical movement. It ends and is renewed again, as if it were timeless. The object of the show is pure eroticism: without Oedipus, it is a metaphor for a futile but indispensable pleasure. The form is the other pole: it tends to be and communicate essence and hope of the permanence." (C.L).
