In celebration of the city's unparalleled artistic communities, The Armory Show highlights a neighborhood or borough's arts scene each night of the week with public events including receptions, open studios, art tours, museum discounts, performances, panels, artist discussions and parties.
For the past 13 years, artists, galleries, collectors, critics and curators from all over the world have made New York their destination during Armory Arts Week. Tuesday, March 1 - Uptown and Museum Mile
Uptown and Museum Mile day is filled with all the best
New York has to offer.
The star of the night belongs to The Art Show’s Gala Preview up at the Park Avenue Armory but the celebration does not stop there. Tour exhibitions at the Exhibition Instituto Cervantes NY; Dia at the Hispanic Society of America; Cooper-Hewitt National Museum of Design and the Asia Society. Enjoy free or discounted admission to The Jewish Museum; Harlem Biennale Armory VIP Preview and extended hours at The Studio Museum in Harlem, and finally head over to The Guggenheim Museum for their Art After Dark.
Wednesday, March 2 - The Armory Show
Opening Preview Benefit at MoMA
The Museum of Modern Art is hosting a party for The Armory Show from 8:30 – 11:30 pm with live music and DJs.
The acclaimed singer-songwriter Kate Nash will perform live in MoMA’s Agnes Gund Garden Lobby.
The evening reception, along with the daytime Early Access Preview at Piers 92 and 94, benefits exhibition programming for The Museum of Modern Art and MoMA PS1.

SoHo Night
SoHo Night is an evening of extended exhibition viewing and special programs by the institutions in SoHo.
The not-for-profit visual arts institutions of SoHo present SoHo Night. Take advantage of this great opportunity to see the best of Soho with an evening that includes: Apexart; The Drawing Center; HarvestworksDigital Media Art Center; Location One and Swiss Institute open from 6pm-9pm. While downtown, visit Walter De Maria’s iconic New York Earth Room and The Broken Kilometer at Dia. Other public art installations include the MTA Arts for Transit – Walter Martin and Paloma Muñoz.
Friday, March 4 - Long Island City Night
Discover Queens and their not-for-profit visual arts institutions
Long Island City hosts some of New York’s cutting edge art centers - take the 7 train to visit the best of the Long Island City Cultural Alliance institutions: Fisher Landau Center; MoMA PS1; Socrates Sculpture Park; SculptureCenter and THE SPACE. That night, the new Museum of the Moving Image will host a party open to the public. Before the night is done, make sure you check out Long Island City Artists celebration of the 25th Anniversary with a multi-venue exhibition of works by its membership of 150+ artists.
Saturday, March 5 - Chelsea Day
Chelsea, New York City’s art world center, is pulling out all the stops for Chelsea Day.
Take in a morning brunch at the Vogt Gallery or the Loretta Howard Gallery. Enjoy the city's elevated park, The Highline, and take in a self-guided tour of the Highline Open Studios. Bring your kids for family friendly tour of Chelsea Galleries hosted by No Longer Empty. Enjoy the largest concentration of internationally celebrated galleries: Andrea Rosen, Gagosian, Matthew Marks, Lehman Maupin, Sean Kelly, among others.
Saturday, March 5 - Brooklyn Night
Discover the rich cultrual offerings in one of the city's most cutting edge neighborhoods
The Williamsburg Gallery Association will keep their galleries open late for Brooklyn Night and is presenting "BORDER CROSSING." in response to Armory Focus: Latin America. Alternatively, come to the DumboArts Center for 'Information Economy'; Kunsthalle Galapagos and for late night art viewing head over to Target First Saturday at the Brooklyn Museum.
Sunday, March 6 - Lower East Side / Downtown

Ongoing Events During Armory Arts Week
This year, The Armory Show and VOLTA NY are collaborating with ARTPROJX CINEMA. Daily screenings at the School of Visual Arts Theatre will feature over 80 artists’ films and videos from over 40 galleries participating at the fairs. “We are delighted to collaborate with such an outstanding quality of artists, galleries and organizations from such a diverse scope”, says David Gryn, Director of Artprojx.

The Armory Show and Times Square Alliance announce a new public event in the heart of New York City during Armory Arts Week. The Times Square Show 2001 showcases four sculptures by artists on view at the Armory Art Show and a site specific installation produced in collaboration with the West Harlem Arts Fund. The artists and galleries are David Kennedy Cutler with Derek Eller Gallery, Tom Otterness with Marlborough Gallery, Niki de Saint Phalle with Nohra Haime Gallery and Grimanesa Amorós with Nina Menocal Gallery. Kyu Seok Oh’s 36 foot long installation, “Counting Sheep,” is comprised of 24 uniquely made paper sheep sculptures on an undulating platform under the lights in the city that never sleeps.
Anonymous Gallery presents the dinner series ‘In Good Taste’ at a number of New York City’s top dining establishments. Shining the spotlight on the affinity between art & food and based on the late Gordon Matta-Clark’s “FOOD” series from the 1970’s, each dinner will pair an artist with the Executive chef. The selected artist will then work with the restaurant’s chef to create a menu and dining experience for each of these evenings.
