comunicato stampa

Ikkan Art International is pleased to present its inaugural gallery exhibition in Singapore, "Surfaces of Everyday Life: Postwar and Contemporary Masters from Ai Weiwei to Andy Warhol."

The exhibition presents some of the major names among Western postwar and contemporary artists. From Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist, Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Stella, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, Sam Francis, to Gerhard Richter, Franz West, Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, Joel Shapiro as well as to the internationally recognized generation of Asian artists such as Ai Weiwei, On Kawara, Yayoi Kusama, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Yasumasa Morimura, and Takashi Murakami. A great American master, Jasper Johns, is represented with twenty-one original prints including four new editions, exhibited for the first time.

This may well be the first gallery exhibition in Singapore assembling museum quality and large-scale paintings, sculptures, installations, neon works, photographs, drawings and prints by such major artists. The exhibition provides the art community of Singapore and a general audience with a rare glimpse of the range and diversity of postwar and contemporary masterpieces.

A fully illustrated color catalogue is being published with a text by Dr. Charles Merewether, Director, Institute of Contemporary Arts, Singapore.

The venue of the exhibition is the newly created 10'000 square feet gallery space at Artspace@Helutrans inside Tanjong Pagar Distripark, Singapore. Ikkan Art International will maintain a permanent gallery there and plans to organize regular exhibitions.

Ikkan Art International, established by Ikkan Sanada, has been based in New York for the past three decades as an international private dealer and advisory company and is expanding its activities to Singapore and its nearby region with this exhibition.
