comunicato stampa

Friday 9th of December, at 18:00, Rocco Orlacchio will open Heart of Africa, the second exhibition at VOICE gallery in Marrakech by the Serbian artist Mihael Milunovic.
For his first show in Africa the artist will exhibit a new series of drawings and sculptures typical of his artistic research and strictly connected to the complex reality of this continent.

“Milunovic’s works have a number of elements which confuse and unsettle us - Lorand Hegyi states - which call our cultural knowledge into question and disturb our political, ideological and moral conventions, without declaring any consciously planned, didactic or missionizing, educational or moralising, clearly defined goal, or indicating any explicitly aggressive, hypercritical attitude”.

The pseudo-machines represented in the drawings are not metaphors, but frightening realities. The accurate, obsessive imitation of functional logic hints at the possibility of irrational improbabilities and thereby evokes the existence of another logic that is diabolic, destructive and self-destructive.
Mihael Milunovic’s latest sculptures are entitled Accumulators of Good Energy or simply Good Machines. These objects are transportable and individual. Like in the past, when icons and sacred images were carried for protection and defense, these objects should serve the same purpose. The Family of these new objects was imagined on the basis of the gathering, storing, and accumulating of Good Energy. This Good Energy can also refer to good and welcoming thoughts, or good emotions, ephemeral fluctuations. All of the objects wear some kind of antennas, armed with spiral coils to bring down those invisible forces to the cell and capture them. Copper conducts and holds these energies within the complex wire structures of the objects
