The Jameel Prize is an international award that rewards since 2009 artists and designers inspired by Islamic traditions in the fields of art, craft and design. It aims to explore the dialogue between traditional Islamic art and contemporary art practices, and help broaden the debate on Islamic culture. The exhibition brings together a wide range of materials and techniques, including sculpture, clay bricks, mosaic mirrors, digital collage inspired by the tradition of Persian miniatures or finishing of felt costumes. Many of these works show more or less underlying nature "hybrid" of the cultural identity of their creators, the merger of the old with the new, the meeting or of the opposition between minimalism and ornamentation, tradition and modernity, exile and home.
