The idea of the project emerged from the intention to overcome the different barriers existing nowadays. The so called "In-Between experience" is quite common and inevitable for all of us during a transition to a new place. However, for the In-Between group members, this experience is a constant reality, which functions as an engine for their work.

The idea of the “In-Between” project emerged from the intention to overcome the different barriers existing nowadays: geographic, politic, religious, cultural and social. The group members are international artists, men and women of different nationalities and religions, experiencing foreignness or post-foreignness in different contexts of their art.
The so called "In-Between experience" is quite common and inevitable for all of us during a transition to a new place. However, for the In-Between group members, this experience is a constant reality, which functions as an engine for their work. The detachment and the multiple identity syndromes nourish their art and are being elaborated throughout different Medias. Out of their personal, yet universal experiences, they form a laboratory of an identity research, which invites the spectator to confront his own identity.
In the opening evening the artists will hold a performance where the visitors are invited to go through a "check-in" before entering the exhibition space. The performance is an attempt to simulate, in a way, familiar to the visitors, a state of transition, the same one which the members of the group are dealing with.
The instant of transferring the check-in process from the obvious environment (the airport) to a different one, such as an art gallery space, arouses in the visitor's self consciousness a series of self-inquiries, concerning a certain point of time that each of us has experienced in his lifetime as a mere procedural event.
