The fourth edition of the Triennal of Contemporary Art by the Sea takes palce in 30 locations, spread over the 9 coastal municipalities. An artistic commission headed by the curator Phillip Van den Bossche and Jan Moeyaert made a studied selection of European contemporary artists. With new or existing works, the artists respond to the environment outside the museum and share an imaginative and imaginary world with the visitors of the coast.
Beaufort04 is the fourth edition of the Triennial of Contemporary Art by the Sea in 2012.
The Triennial has become an indispensable cultural event which is not to be missed. The Belgian coast and contemporary art have found one another again through monumental installations and intriguing works of art embedded in the unique biotope of the dynamic coastal municipalities.
An artistic commission headed by Phillip Van den Bossche, curator for Beaufort04, and intendant Jan Moeyaert made a studied selection of European contemporary artists. The selected works of art are a reflection of what is happening in the contemporary European art scene. With new or existing works, the artists respond to the environment outside the museum and share an imaginative and imaginary world with the visitors of the coast.
Again, the fourth edition of the Triennial of Contemporary Art will undoubtedly cause a summery sensation and give rise to artistic reflections along the Belgian coast.
Beaufort04 is an initiative from vzw Ku(n)st and her partners under high patronage of Mr. Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council.

At the end of april, Beaufort will publish an overview of the 4 editions.
All the works of Beaufort01, 02, 03 and 04 are captured in an elaborate picture book. Jimmy Kets will be the photographer for the fourth edition.
The artworks of Beaufort04 are located on 30 different locations in 9 different participating coastal municipalities. Next to this, many exhibitions will be organized in the municipalities:
Koksijde
In Abbey Estate Ten Bogaerde, you will not only see the artwork by Claire Fontaine, but also the exhibition Documentation by Brody Neuenschwander from 17 June until 2 September.

Oostende
In the Venetian Galleries, you can visit the exhibition Cities like open air museums by Arne Quinze from 9 June until 11 November.
Every day from 14.00 to 18.00, Sunday from 10.00 to 12.00 and 14.00 to 18.00.

From 31 March until 30 September, Mu.ZEE hosts the exhibition Te kust en te keur. Lucy McKenzie will use the imposing modernist façade of the museum as an exhibition surface, together with Carolin Lerch, Caitlin Keogh, Lucile Desamory and Beca Lipscombe.
Also in Oostende, you can visit the exhibition Moments before the flood by Carl De Keyzer from 16 May u til 16 August.
De Haan - Wenduine
In Vlissegem, close to De Haan, you can visit the exhibition Village View by photographer Bart Michiels, from 1 July until 31 August.

Ostend – Bredene – De Haan/Wenduine – Blankenberge – Zeebrugge
On Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, you can participate in a guided bus tour.
Tuesday afternoon = east coast (from Ostend to Zeebrugge).
Thursday afternoon = west coast (from Ostend to De Panne).
