Art Fair for Grafic Arts and Work on Paper. During Art Cologne, this art fair will concentrate its efforts particularly on an area of the art world which is not often suitably represented at renown art fairs.
The Cologne Paper Art was founded to offer galleries and artists the opportunity to show and promote their graphic arts and work on paper, both contemporary and modern. This art fair will concentrate its efforts particularly on an area of the art world which is not often suitably represented at renown art fairs. One of the reasons is economic, exhibitors find themselves drawn to ever-larger art fairs leading them to propose more expensive art work in order to cover their mounting expenses.
After doing considerable market research as well as discussing extensively the subject with artists and gallery owners, the organisers of Cologne Paper Art feel they have responded to a demand in the art market, which is also reflected in the interest shown by collectors and buyers as well. For young people newly interested in art and who have limited financial possibilities, this art fair offers them an introduction to graphic arts and work on paper and an chance to begin their own collections.
The Cologne Paper Art´s timing is deliberate, the fair will open at the same time as the famous “ART COLOGNE 2012”. This is not meant to put the two fairs in competion, on the contrary, it should be seen as a complement to the renown art fair as well as an enlargement of the total Cologne art scene. In this way, the Cologne Paper Art supports and encourages the graphic arts in general as well as giving a boost to the city of Cologne´s reputation as a leader in the art world.
The exhibition venue will be in the Vulkan Halle in the trendy Ehrenfeld section of Cologne. The newly renovated factory building from the “belle époque”period, with its loft-effect architecture, has a very special atmosphere, one which is well-appreciated in Cologne. The fittings and technical standards are of the highest level.
