Rose Masterpol

Although best known for her abstract expressionist paintings, Rose Masterpol revives abstract surrealism and automatism in her new work presented in her solo exhibition at Aratmo. She utilizes the power of the stroke and line, painting with the intention of letting images emerge, reveal themselves. Being less analytical, exposing her inner mind through the process of free association Masterpol unravels an abstract image of the moment. She lets the painting have a presence of its own, full of surprise and unexpected juxtapositions, of spontaneous, simple aesthetic truth, being symbolic, yet open to interpretation.
