and
one

worldwide.
Aimed
at
video
art
professionals
and
audiences
keen
to
discover
the

trends
in
this
field,
the

will
be
held
once

at
the
Catalonia

in

by
a
select
set

invited
by
an
international

Isabelle
Lemaître
and
Marc
and

by
Jean-‐Conrad
Lemaître.
A
total
of
46
galleries
from
13
countries
from
all
over
the
world
will
once
again
make
LOOP
Fair
a
benchmark
for
industry
professionals
and
the
perfect
platform
for
presenting
premieres,
with
a
total
of
23
world
premieres
(more
than
doubling
last
year’s
premieres
from
10
to
23).
This
year’s
latest
addition
is
a
Curated
Section.
For
LOOP
2012,
critic
and
curator
Paula
Alzugaray
has
brought
together
a
selection
of
Latin
American
galleries
and
artists
to
explore
the
continent’s
artistic
and
cultural
characteristics,
with
a
strong
showing
by
São
Paulo
galleries.
This
year
more
than
ever,
LOOP
Fair
will
be
an
unmissable
event
for
anyone
and
everyone
eager
to
find
out
about,
see
and
purchase
the
latest
video
productions.
Set
up
in
2003
as
the
first
fair
dedicated
exclusively
to
video
art,
LOOP
is
now
the
simplest
and
most
effective
promotional
fair
in
the
industry,
with
over
5000
visitors
and
200
professionals.
On
Thursday
31
May,
LOOP
Fair
will
open
just
for
professionals,
but
on
Friday
1
and
Saturday
2
June
it
will
open
to
the
public
as
well.
Pro
Forum
will
be
held
in
parallel
to
the
fair
in
the
same
hotel
space
and
offer
a
wide
range
of
programmes
and
activities.
LOOP
Fair
forms
part
of
the
tenth
edition
of
SCREEN
Festival,
Barcelona’s
video
art
and
moving
image
festival
held
from
17
May
to
2
June.
The
festival
will
offer
17
days
of
close
contact
with
audiovisual
creative
practices
including
the
brightest
ideas
and
latest
developments.
This
broad
specialist
platform
for
exploring,
promoting
and
marketing
video
art
will
bring
numerous
industry
professionals
to
Barcelona,
involve
over
200
organisations
in
the
city
(including
galleries,
museums
and
civic
centres,
amongst
others)
and
present
over
1000
video
art
pieces
by
500
artists
from
40
countries
in
150
spaces
throughout
the
city.
Year
after
year,
different
organisations
have
forged
closer
ties
with
SCREEN
by
programming
and
curating
video
art
screenings
across
the
city,
creating
an
active
community
network
and
helping
make
the
festival
the
top
video
art
event
with
the
most
extensive
programme
and
most
spaces
in
the
whole
of
Europe
–
a
benchmark
on
the
international
artistic
calendar.
During
these
two
and
a
half
weeks,
video
art
can
be
seen
at
the
main
screening
spaces
in
the
city,
such
as
museums,
art
centres
and
galleries,
as
well
as
less
conventional
venues
such
as
bookstores,
shops,
libraries,
hotels
and
restaurants,
thanks
to
citySCREEN
(the
Festival’s
Off
programme),
which
aims
to
bring
video
art
to
all
audiences.
SCREEN
Festival
also
includes
a
carefully
selected
University
Programme
and
miniSCREEN,
the
Festival’s
children’s
section.
Bearing
in
mind
the
current
precarious
economic
and
cultural
context,
the
2012
edition
asks
What
is
the
current
state
of
video
art
production?
Who
is
producing
what
and
how?
What
criteria
are
they
following?
This
series
of
questions
reveals
the
need
to
explore
the
present
and
above
all
the
future
of
artists’
video
and
film
production.
As
a
result,
this
year’s
leitmotif
will
be
the
question
WHAT
ABOUT
PRODUCTION?
And
trying
to
answer
this
question
is
a
new
addition
this
year,
the
first
SCREEN
Forum
PRO,
a
professional
forum
held
from
30
May
to
2
June
that
aims
to
open
up
a
space
for
professionals
to
explore
their
interests,
concerns
and
challenges
in
the
field
of
video
art
production
today.
This
professional
conference
will
bring
together
over
25
leading
agents
in
the
field
of
art
and
audiovisual
production
in
order
to
identify
the
challenges
ahead
and
sketch
out
possible
future
paths
by
discussing
participants’
own
experience.
Pro
Forum
will
be
held
in
parallel
to
the
fair
at
the
Catalonia
Ramblas
Hotel
from
30
May
to
2
June.
