Ekumene (Oikoumene), literally means “inhabited”
(part of the world) (Arnold Toynbee, 2007 ;37) came from Greek term
which had became a daily life word in Hellenis era on Greek history
after the development of Greek Hellenis, from West to East,
starting from the original domain extended to Aegean sea.
I Wayan Januariawan -during his art-research- invites artists
for a group exhibition “Ekumene at Gaya Art Space
on June 05th-26th, 2012. They are I Wayan Sadu, I Nyoman Wijaya,
A. A Gede Darmayuda, I Ketut Lekung Sugantika, Uuk Paramitha,
Teja Astawa, Ni Nyoman Sani, and Rio Saren.
There are three pillars to be recorded as Ekumene achievement through the problems
formulation among the power of art, economic implication, and knowledge of art.
The power of art can be recognized from the artwork of each artist.
Economic implication involved art galleries as an art management
for future art sustainability. Knowledge of Art
applied through scientific studies as a data empirical for local, national
and international art history.
The artist’s awareness in creating their artworks based on some aspects.
One of the most important aspect is a personal identity,
which is known from their knowledge of the now- days
art development and to select and presenting the position of art itself.
