Revamped contemporary art fair in Berlin’s MUMA
Berlin, August 21st 2012 The 9th BERLINER LISTE promises to be an exciting addition to Berlin Art
Week as a fair for talent just waiting to be discovered. The MUMA’s sacral industrial atmosphere in
Berlin Mitte provides the stage for 124 international galleries and artists from 26 countries to
exhibit their newest works, vetted for artistic quality by a team of curators led by Dr. Gerhard
Charles Rump.
The most-represented nations are Germany with 67 exhibitors, with France and Spain following.
France’s offering includes an exclusive area for five selected artists from the capital’s MAC Paris
fair. Of all countries on show, work from Brazil has travelled the furthest - 10,600 km – to be
displayed here in Berlin. The BERLINER LISTE’s 2150 sqm exhibitor space will be enhanced by an
innovative gastronomy concept and creative fringe events.
The BERLINER LISTE focuses both on the strength of its growing international representation as
well as Berlin’s reputation as a place for art production. The fair intends to create a forum for
promoting the 5000+ artists living in Berlin, 42 of whom will be exhibiting. Additionally, for the first
time this year, a new initiative highlights the work of one exceptional Berlin artist. The artist
Michael Luther has been selected with his monumental “Colourado”. The piece will be hung at the
centre of the fair with its fascinating tension between material and motive, medium and
expression.
Exhibitors include galleries like 3 Punts Galeria (Barcelona), Hardcore Art Contemporary Space
(Miami), A22 Gallery (Budapest) and Smart Ship Gallery (Tokio) as well as artists such as James
Hopkins and David Paul Holland (both from London), Aaron Vidal Martinez (Hamburg) and Julia
Antonia (Berlin). The complete list of exhibitors can be viewed online at www.berliner-liste.org/page/galleries
This year, the BERLINER LISTE is working together with Parisian art fair MACparis for the first time
to offer a communicative exchange project for contemporary German and French artists. Five
outstanding BERLINER LISTE exhibitors will be chosen to have their work exhibited for free at
MACparis. In return, five selected MACparis artists will show their pieces at the BERLINER LISTE.

Berlin, May 10th, 2012 The BERLINER LISTE will take place September 13th to 16th, 2012 at the

Berlin’s status as an important city for art production and galleries as well as providing rising art
stars with exhibition space. As part of this, the BERLINER LISTE will promote a particularly
promising individual artist. The initiative starts this year with Berlin painter Michael Luther, whose
3 x 13.3m large painting ‘Colourado’ will be displayed in MUMA’s entrance hall.
