ABCDLP 002 - Short Big Drama by George van Dam for Short Big Yellow Drawing Machine by Angela Bulloch. It is the second release of the independent record label which the artist established with the specific purpose of making the music relating to her work accessible to a larger audience.
Esther Schipper is pleased to present ABCDLP 002 – Short Big Drama by George van Dam for Short Big Yellow Drawing Machine by Angela Bulloch, a special project in the gallery’s showroom by Berlin-based artist Angela Bulloch.
ABCDLP 002 is the second release of the independent record label 'ABCDLP,' which the artist established with the specific purpose of making the music relating to her work accessible to a larger audience. The record, released in an edition of 500 contains the piece of music Short Big Drama, 2012, composed and performed by George van Dam especially for Bulloch's new installation Short Big Yellow Drawing Machine, 2012, which will be on view for the first time in the gallery. Since the early 1990s, the artist has worked on a series of drawing machines, which consist of an automated armature moving a drawing implement across a flat surface. In this case, the automated drawing process is initiated by the musical composition Short Big Drama.
In addition to the drawing machine, a group of tailor-made listening posts by the artists are shown. For the duration of the exhibition, the showroom of Esther Schipper, Berlin, is transformed into a place for listening to music.
ABCDLP 003 is charted as a new musical composition by David Grubbs with a release date of spring 2013.
