Zinny & Maidagan make slight but distinct interventions in the architecture of gallery and museum spaces - walls that give way, accentuated spatial volumes and blocked views. Central to their work is an interest in the juxtaposition of public and private, reality and fiction, object and representation. Their work deals with the relationship between the individual and larger structures - political systems, urban plans and the architecture of exhibition spaces.
The Showroom is pleased to announce that it has commissioned Argentine
artists Dolores Zinny & Juan Maidagan to make a new body of work for
presentation at The Showroom between 28 May and 6 July 2003.
Zinny & Maidagan have worked collaboratively since 1990. They have shown in
high profile international group and solo project, including ForwArt 2002,
Brussels, the Moderna Museet, Stockholm and Artists Space, New York. Zinny &
Maidagan have been invited to make a new project for Carlos Basualdo's The
Structure of Survival, to be shown in the Arsenale in this year's Venice
Biennale.
