CONSTANTIN LUSER'S spontaneous drawings represent records from bodies of
thought, which are developed on paper or created on the wall, directly, by
near coincidence. These drawings resemble construction plans of an
industrial product designed on a computer. Individual details are
highlighted in small sketches on the side  details appear virtually
'clicked'. Therefore, the beholder receives additional information - he
zooms into the micro and macro structures. Labels lead on to further levels
of association.
Luser's installations illustrate the translations of drawings into space.
The drawing turns into the actual construction plan. Constantin Luser
creates a parallel world, where the parameters have been shifted and the
imaginary functionality of the construed becomes the focus  not the
technical one, as with an industrial product.
Constantin Luser takes a critical look at media art and refers to the
correlations between art, society, and industry. He has invited his friends
NIKOLAUS GANSTERER und JEAN-CLAUDE FREYMOND-GUTH to join the exhibition with
their own work. The exhibition is devised as an open system, which
incessantly reinvents itself inside the gallery. The various point-of-views,
approaches, and media converge as the artists, hereby, react to encounters
with spectators.

Opening: 4th June 2003, 7 p.m. Â 9 p.m.
Exhibition showing until 2nd August 2003

INTERSITCES is a 23 minute film composed of assorted scrap footage: footage
shot to start a fresh roll of film, tests of different lenses, tests without
a lens at all (a piece of aluminium foil wrapped over the lens mount with a
pin hole poked in it), footage shot while listening to the camera to hear
how it sounds and casual exposure tests (no charts of written indication on
the film as to what exactly was being tested?!?).
Each of these incidents produces an image that is secondary to the reason it
was produced. The resulting movie is a catalog of detritus, residue of a
product not contained in this film. Once the original purpose of each image
has been served (useful information extracted and applied elsewhere) what
remains is the equivalent of an empty wrapper, a hollow shell. Images whose
purpose has been served continue to exist as appearance only, pure surface,
free to be put to any purpose or to simply meet the eye.
