The Interior of the Cabanon, Le Corbusier 1952 - Cassina Reconstruction 2006. The Cabanon, which was conceived, designed and built by Le Corbusier for his personal use, comprises the ideal conditions of architectural planning. The reconstruction intends to make the public both more aware of the responsibility of the client in relation to the designer/architect and to become more participative.
Cassina, in collaboration with the Le Corbusier Foundation, presents the first U.S. exhibition of Le Corbusier: The Interior of the Cabanon, Le Corbusier 1952 – Cassina Reconstruction 2006.
The exhibitions features the authentic reconstruction of the actual interior of the Cabanon, which Le Corbusier planned and built in 1952 for his holidays in Cap-Martin, France.
The Cabanon, which was conceived, designed and built by Le Corbusier for his personal use, comprises the ideal conditions of architectural planning, the dialectic synthesis between the concept and the accomplishment. It represents the antithesis of those architects who see a home as a kind of fetish to emulate or, perhaps more disturbingly, as a projection of oneself.
The reconstruction of the Cabanon – organized specially for touring exhibitions – intends to make the public both more aware of the responsibility of the client in relation to the designer/architect and to become more participative. Cassina Miami will showcase a collection of Le Corbusier furniture designed together with Pierre Jenneret and Charlotte Perriand highlighting the veritable relationship between Cassina and Le Corbusier.
