Solo exhibition
"In most of Halton's work there is an undercurrent of both violence and humor. Her characters crowd one another or become lost in a labyrinth of detail, but they also often seem strangely happy in their entangled fates: they smile, wave at the viewer, talk to each other, or try to step out of the picture plane altogether. There is a central paradox at work here that gets to certain home truths: we need each other, we need the often untidy morass of day-to-day life, but the familiar comforts that cushion our lives can also be sources of anxiety and confusion." -Ann Landi. Opening Reception Saturday February 16, 4-6 pm.
