Drawing and Being. For Matthias Bohler and Christian Orendt, as well as Heiner Franzen, Petrit Halilaj, Eva von Platen and David Shrigley, drawings means giving free reign to their imagination and telling stories in very different ways, but always with humour.
With Matthias Böhler and Christian Orendt, who collaborate on projects, as well as Heiner Franzen, Petrit Halilaj, Eva von Platen and David Shrigley, the Museum Schloss Moyland presents five current artistic positions, all of which focus on drawing. To these artists, drawings means giving free reign to their imagination and telling stories in very different ways, but always with humour. Impulses for their work derive from everyday experience and observation, comics, films and the internet.
All of these artists move beyond the paper's edge to transform entire exhibition spaces into unconventional fields of thought, which we can walk through and experience. The spectrum of works ranges from utopian projects over playful parallel worlds to pieces incorporating architecture, all of which provide a glimpse into the draughtsman's mind. More installation than graphic art presentation, the exhibition invites the viewer to explore the most disparate imaginary worlds. Some of the works were created by the artists expressly for the Museum Schloss Moyland.
A bilingual catalogue (German/English) will be available.
The exhibition is supported by the Kunststiftung NRW and the Stiftung Kunstfonds.
