The exhibition will feature several of the top abstract painters from the 1960s and 1970s, a period wrought with political and social turmoil in Jamaica. Abstract expression became the perfect medium to express the new intensity and awareness.

The exhibition will feature several of the top abstract painters from the 1960s and 1970s, a period wrought with political and social turmoil in Jamaica. Abstract expression became the perfect medium to express the new intensity and awareness.

The artists of this period reveal a world of emotional response from outspoken aggression to contemplative introspection.

Among the artists featured are Hope Brooks, Milton George, Stafford Schliefer, David Boxer, George Rodney and Karl Craig.

Pan American Art Gallery is located in the Turtle Creek neighborhood of Dallas at 3303 Lee Parkway, Suite 101. The gallery is open Tuesday- Friday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Saturday noon-6 p.m. Call 214-522-3303 for more information.

Specializing in art from the Caribbean basin, the Pan American Art Gallery features avant-garde and contemporary Cuban works, as well as contemporary and folk art from Haiti and Jamaica.
