The Asia Contemporary Art Show is delighted to announce the final line-up of exhibitors and artists who will join the largest and most influential “satellite” event to Art Basel Hong Kong. The show welcomes 75 galleries from 17 countries showcasing some 2,000 works from over 300 artists from May 23rd – 26th at the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.
“We are thrilled to host this ‘sold out’ show, and to offer collectors and art buyers such quality and diversity in works from young, emerging and mid-career artists. The top four floors at the JW Marriott will accommodate a dazzling display of unique contemporary art from our international line-up of exhibitors,” said Show Director Douwe Cramer. “Our focus is on presenting a variety of works not offered before in Hong Kong, from original paintings and limited editions, to sculpture and photography.”
Artists on display include Pipp Todd Warmoth from the UK, whose works are collected by HRH Princes Charles, Sir David Tang and former Hong Kong Governor Chris Patten; Shen Jingdong from Beijing, whose works have achieved excellent prices at auction and is popular with Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi; Australian-Chinese Archibald Prize winning artist, Zhong Chen; Sanzi from Shanghai, whose works are featured in the main hall of Shanghai World Expo and the Shenzhen Museum; and Japanese artist Mitsuru Watanabe, whose works have been sold at auction by Christie’s.
Asia Contemporary Art Show is also pleased to announce the Jury Panel of the Hong Kong Art Prize 2013. The prestigious HK$80,000 Hong Kong Art Prize, organized in conjunction with the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association and with the support of Venue Sponsor Wheelock Properties, will be presented in the week leading up to the Asia Contemporary Art Show. “Entries from many of Hong Kong’s foremost artists are being received daily, and we are delighted to announce details of our eminent Jury Panel,” said Mark Saunderson, Director.

Asia Contemporary Art Ltd was established in Hong Kong to focus on creating an art fair for the under-served market segment of accessibly priced art by showcasing young and emerging talent alongside recognized mid-career artists from across Asia and beyond. Asia Contemporary Art is committed to creating opportunities for buyers and sellers of contemporary art to see, buy, sell and talk ‘art.’ The aim is to make purchasing art more accessible for art lovers and buyers, be they first–time buyers or experienced collectors. The second Asia Contemporary Art Show will take place over the weekend of May 23rd – 26th and third edition October 3rd – 6th at the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.
The winning painting and two runners up as well as a “People’s Prize” voted on Facebook will be awarded at a gala event at the Wheelock Gallery in Queensway on Thursday, May 16th. The winners plus a selection of other notable entries will be on public display at the Wheelock Gallery until Sunday June 2nd, and will thereafter be offered for sale.
