L.A. ART SHOW CELEBRATES NINTH YEAR WITH ITS LARGEST SHOW EVER;
PLUS A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART
Los Angeles, CA - Building on nine years of strong, sustained growth, Los
Angeles Art Show producer Kim Martindale has announced that the 2003 LA Art
Show scheduled for October 9-12 continues to grow in size by enhancing its
contemporary art presence, including several notable photography dealers.
While the show has always included modern and contemporary art, it has been
most celebrated for its strengths in traditional and regional art, including
nineteenth century French landscapes, the Taos and Hudson River Valley
schools, Western narrative, and California Impressionism.
And the same high standards of excellence that always been the cornerstone
of the L.A. Art Show apply: all the art works are for sale and are vetted
for provenance and authenticity through the show's organizer, the Fine Art
Dealers Association.
The show is held at the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport, already
familiar as the site for many high-end local events. In addition to the art
for sale by sixty dealers, a number of museums, including the Los Angeles
County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), the
Autry Museum, the San Diego Museum of Art, and the Museum of Latin American
Art (MOLA), will also be returning to promote their current and upcoming
exhibitions and membership benefits. Also on-site are three days of
symposiums presented by prominent collectors and art historians (free with
show admission). New this year is a series of special decorating vignettes
installed by notable interior designers - "Decorating with Fine Art" -
illustrating the pleasures of collecting and living with quality paintings,
sculpture, and furnishings, that is being sponsored by the Pacific Design
Center.
The L.A. Art Show is at South Field, Barker Hangar, Santa Monica Air Center,
3021 Airport Ave., Santa Monica, and opens the evening of Thursday, October
9 at 7 p.m. with a preview and lavish reception whose $150 ticket benefits
the LA Art Showx{2019}s new charity beneficiary, the Art Museum Council of the Los
Angeles County Museum of Art. The show opens to the general public Friday,
October 10, 12 a.m to 8 p.m. and continues Saturday, October 11, 12 a.m. to
7 p.m. through Sunday, October 12, 12 a.m. to 6 p.m. Show admission is $18,
and includes the four-color show catalogue. Members of participating
