'The Debris Paintings'
Circle Elephant Art is pleased to present its second solo exhibition of the
paintings of Los Angeles artist Ken Bracken. Bracken's new body of work
creates a symbology of landscape by focusing on the abstract possibilities
of debris: detritus and cast off materials which are a result of the
man-made interaction with the land. Geographically recognizable places have
given way to a language of shapes and forms made up of the building blocks
of our world, in various states of use or disuse, in an otherwise natural
setting. The palette retains the specific qualities of the light found in
Southern California that are the trademark of Bracken's art, yet now the
additional presence of texture and metallic pigment establishes a bond with
the source of all the materials of our built environment, the earth itself.
The art exhibition venues in Los Feliz conduct a 'First Friday Art Walk' on
the first Friday of each month, and this show will also be open on the 7th
of November from 7-11pm.
All gallery events are free and open to the public. Circle Elephant
Art's director, Bert W. Green, is dedicated to discovering and exhibiting
quality work by early and mid-career artists. Show preview can be found at
ceart.com. Follow the link to the exhibitions area.
