Trisha Baga

Zabludowicz Collection, London

A combination of video projection, painting, sculpture and found objects and from these seemingly disparate elements, which creates immersive compositions, flooding gallery spaces with light and sound. The exhibition will be accompanied by a new publication and a series of public events.

comunicato stampa

The Zabludowicz Collection is pleased to present a solo exhibition of New York-based artist Trisha Baga, her first in a non-commercial gallery in England. Featuring a number of new installations alongside existing works from the Collection, it will unfold around the dramatic architecture of the Collection’s north London home in a unique sensory experience.

Baga combines video projection, painting, sculpture and found objects and from these seemingly disparate elements creates immersive compositions, flooding gallery spaces with light and sound. Echoing the way that technology alters perception, Baga uses 3D projections and the rhythms of internet browsing to produce installations that are both performative and painterly.
Rather than the linear narrative of cinema she instead layers images, text and sound to produce chains of association. Baga herself is very much present in the work, appearing on webcam clips, dancing and singing pop lyrics. She positions herself as one of the materials through which information is filtered – with the present-day contents of her studio and computer spilling out into the space of the viewer.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a new publication and a series of public events taking Baga’s work as its starting point.
The exhibition runs concurrently with Infinite City, a group exhibition and collaboration between Kadist Art Foundation and Zabludowicz Collection.
