Epiphany
Video Installation and Navigational Text
Curator: Viera Jancekova
Slovak version of poetic text by Bill Seaman: Martin Solotruk
New media artist Bill Seaman, USA, created a site-specific project
Epiphany/Zjavenie in and outside of a former synagogue. The project deals
with the local place, architectural elements and social relations and
incorporates poetry texts with music, visual art and media in collaboration
with the local people.
Inspired by cultural, historical and architectural context of Trnava town,
its psychological influence and some details of human body, the artist
juxtaposed these elements to the video-work with impressive music and
whispered texts in both languages.
Another part of the project is based on exhibiting these poetic texts in
Slovak and English version in public spaces of Trnava using the classical
frame and material of the street signs.
Bill Seaman is a head of Digital Media Department (Graduate division) at
Rhode Island School of Design, where the Artslink residency
of Viera Jancekova took place in the year 2002.

constructivism, but also his pastel-drawings and drawings made by pendulum,
which represent an inseparable part of sculpture works by this distinguished

Permanent sculpture exhibition of Jan Koniarek (1878 - 1952)
Art-historical conception of the exhibition: Luba Belohradska
In 2002 permanent exhibition of sculpture works by Jan Koniarek entered
cultural life in Trnava.
Artistic message of Jan Koniarek (30. 1. 1878 Voderady - 4. 5. 1952 Trnava)
became substantial for Slovak modern sculpture. The extension of the gallery
building of the Koppel house and realisation of permanent exhibition is an
exceptional step forward and currently presents approximately 60 works by
Jan Koniarek. Not only does the exhibition allow visual experience, the
visitors are also enabled to feel and touch the art, as all the sculptures
except for those made of marble are destined for haptic experience.
