La fuga dell’individuo dalla collettività e dalla storia, alla ricerca del proprio mondo, unico e protetto. È questo il filo che lega i diversi approcci documentari dei fotografi che, in quattro diversi angoli d’Europa, hanno scelto il ritratto per raccontare il volto più segreto e sconosciuto del continente. Ognuno con lo sguardo profondo di chi conosce e ama la propria terra.
È così che il polacco Adam Panvczuk ci porta in un villaggio nell’est del suo paese, per presentarne gli abitanti fortemente attaccati alla terra, metafora della vita. Chiamati Zarczebs, termine che descrive quel che rimane dopo il taglio di un albero. Anche Marius Schultz racconta la sua Norvegia grazie a un micro-mondo e alla sua bellezza rarefatta: quello di due ragazzine dai capelli rossi che tra gli alberi e la natura incontaminata vivono l’età della pubertà, in silenzio.
“Un’attrazione tra le cose”, come la definisce il francese Alex Cretey Systermans, che si immerge nella famiglia e nei suoi innumerevoli dettagli per scoprire l’essenza di una realtà autonoma, ricca come un mondo intero.
Come le Modern Couples inglesi di Carlotta Cardana, fotografa di Verbania residente a Londra, che ha documentato chi vive oggi ancorato a un passato che non esiste più. Una passeggiata nel tempo, nei favolosi anni sessanta, che va ben oltre la moda, per riflettere sulla costruzione dell’identità.

The escape of individual from collectivity and history, to looking for his world, distinct and well-protected. This is the thread which binds
the different documentary approaches of photographers who, in four different corners of Europe, have been choosing to show its more secret and unknown side. Everyone with a deep eye of those who know and love their own land.
So the polish Adam Panvczuk takes us to a village
in the east of his country, to present its inhabitants who are strictly attached to the land, metaphor of life. They are called Zarczebs, a word describing what remains after a tree’s been cut. Even Marius Schultz tells his Norway thanks to a micro-world and its rarefied beauty: that of two red hair little girls living in silence their puberty among trees and pure nature.
“An attraction between different things”, as
defined by the french photographer Alex Cretey Systermans, whose work dives into the family and in its uncountable details to discover the essence of autonomous reality, full as a wide world.
Like English Modern Couples of Carlotta Cardana, photographer from Verbania resident in London, which documents those who are living today linked to a past that does not exist anymore. A walk in time, in the wonder of the 60s, over and above fashion, to reflect on identity construction.
