Boomerang
Step into the universe of mythical creatures and mysterious apparitions. Belgian Cameroon artist Pascale Marthine Tayou. The exhibition BOOMERANG reveals Tayou’s monumental work of colourful linen, organic materials, wood, crystal figures and found objects.
With his works, the artist address the ways in which we develop a national, geographic, financial and emotional identity in times of mass consumption. Tayou constantly draws similarities and differences between the many cultures and communities he has lived and worked among, and challenges us to do the same.
Julia Peyton-Jones, Director of the Serpentine Galleries in London, with Co-Director and Curator Hans Ulrich Obrist have said about Tayou’s work: "His ingeniously crafted creations are imbued with a strange and alluring magic that has the power to bind us all".

V+ 2014-2015
Curators: Sophie Dars and Carlo Menon
Architect in charge of the exhibition: Sara Cremer (V+)
Guests: Simon Boudvin, Pierre Chabard, Maxime Delvaux, Sonia Dermience, Marcel Jaradin, Rotor, Trans Architectuur, Loïc Vanderstichelen & Jean-Paul Jacquet
BOZAR ARCHITECTURE and A+ Architecture in Belgium present V+ 2014-2015, the first monographic exhibition to be devoted to the V+ architectural practice. This event concentrates on projects that are either still being designed, are in the process of being built, or have recently been completed. Models, installations, plans, photographs, and videos highlight the key aspects of each project and reveal the practice's distinctive features, such as rethinking the requirements of a project, coming to terms with the existing context, and experimenting with the limits of the discipline of architecture. Bearing witness to the importance of collaborative work, V+ 2014-2015 also celebrates contributions by Simon Boudvin, Maxime Delvaux, Rotor, Loïc Vanderstichelen, and Jean-Paul Jacquet, among others. More than a retrospective, this exhibition takes you behind the scenes of major projects. As V+ has designed the new MAD Brussels Mode and Design Centre, there is a link between the V+ 2014-2015 exhibition and the exhibition devoted to Belgian fashion, The Belgians: An Unexpected Fashion Story, which you can see at the Centre for Fine Arts this summer.

Juergen Teller
Pictures of Vivienne Westwood
Three impressive photos of the fashion designer Vivienne Westwood grace the walls in the Centre of Fine Arts. She is completely naked. The only person able to get the 68 year old Westwood to do this was Jürgen Teller (°1964, Germany). He is considered to be one of the most influential, contemporary photographers. His provocative ideas whilst photographing celebrities undermine the usual relationship between artist and model. With his keen eye and open mind he has succeeded in making it big as an art photographer and a fashion photographer. He has also worked with the likes of Marc Jacobs, Winona Ryder, Björk and Yves Saint Laurent.

The Belgians
An Unexpected Fashion Story
Curator: Didier Vervaeren
Surreal, avant-garde and explicit. These are three keywords that are usually associated with Belgian fashion, which is internationally recognised. This exhibition gives a unique historic overview of the DNA of Belgian fashion, starting with the legendary Antwerp Six (including Dries van Noten, Walter Van Beirendonck and Ann Demeulemeester) and working up to the individualistic creations of Martin Margiela, A.F. Vandevorst and Raf Simons. The exhibition also highlights the works of several influential players in various fashion and art disciplines. We will also touch upon the importance of the fashion academies, especially the Antwerp Academy and La Cambre in Brussels. Naturally this exhibition would not be complete without emerging talent like Jean-Paul Lespagnard and Christian Wijnants.
