More or less zero density. With reference to those artists who attempted to dematerialise the art object at the end of the sixties by substituting for it conceptual, immaterial or ephemeral propositions, a number of contemporary artists are renewing an interest in such concepts as the void, disappearance and invisibility. Densite' ±0, as its title suggests, brings together a selection of contemporary works whose apparent visual reduction strengthens their conceptual and emotional power.

Fri-Art has the honour to invite two curators from Paris, Caroline Ferreira and Marianne Lanavère, in order to provide the contemporary production with a historical approach untitled Densité ± 0 (More or less zero density).
With reference to those artists who attempted to dematerialise the art object at the end of the sixties by substituting for it conceptual, immaterial or ephemeral propositions, a number of contemporary artists are renewing an interest in such concepts as the void, disappearance and invisibility. Densité ±0, as its title suggests, brings together a selection of contemporary works whose apparent visual reduction strengthens their conceptual and emotional power.
The aesthetic positions adopted by the artists presented in the exhibition are closer to infra-ordinary gesture than hyper-production. The works make use of simple materials gleaned from everyday life, nature or the exhibition space itself. Incidental interventions and derisory actions, they can also take the form of basic geometric shapes, lighting variations and barely audible sound frequencies.
This exhibition seeks to illustrate these aesthetic intentions through the presentation of several works by the same artist or new installations, produced in close collaboration with the artists. The viewer is confronted by two approaches, represented here by around 30 artistic propositions: the artwork as filter or magnifying glass, questioning the physical limits of the world and our perception of reality; and the performance of micro-actions to reveal a more poetic and existential commitment to the world.
The works in Densité ±0 do not attempt to represent the real by a narrative or documentary system. With extreme precision they succeed in retaining from concrete things only underlying micro-physical mechanisms or a level of abstraction, in order to convey their very essence.
