'Upstories, Downstories  A Mother/Daughter Show'
Paintings, Drawings & Prints
Reception: Saturday, May 15, 6-9pm
DoubleVision Gallery is proud to present the first mother/daughter
exhibition for Nancy Romero (mother) and Sonia Romero (daughter), with an
opening reception for the artists on Saturday, May 15, 6 Â 9pm.
Nancy Romero, a Los Angeles based artist, comes from a background in
Mythology and Anthropology. She is presenting a series of oil paintings that
play with stories of 'Before' and 'After', which refers to various versions
of the Creation and its aftermath.
Sonia Romero grew up in a very artistic family (she is the daughter of Nancy
and Frank Romero). She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in
2002. Sonia Romero offers a series of paintings, prints and drawings that
dwell on a child's journey of exploration and wonder.
'Upstories, Downstories,' is an exhibit that shows both artist's interest
and enthusiasm in visual storytelling. All the works shown were created
while Sonia worked/lived in an upstairs studio while Nancy worked/lived in a
downstairs studio in the same house. The 'Upstories, Downstories' exhibition
is the first time that the mother and daughter show their work together.
