HALBES HAUS brings together a group of artists to create an in-between place, a kind of hotel lobby of a gallery space, where the work is itself and the environment too. The separation between things and their placement in clearly defined isolation has not been the aim. It has been a process of selecting and combining and rejecting until everything makes sense as a place, in the language of the landscape of a lobby: it is this that has led the decisions about what will be in the show, and where it will be placed.
The artists involved have allowed us to make those selections, and have understood how great it is to be able to get your hands on other people¹s work, work that you admire and wish you¹d made) - you see how it could all add up, how you could deploy different pieces to make a new place of discovery: a halfway house between the individuals and the group, where things fit together but seem separate to - this is the aim of HALBES HAUS, in a push-me/pull-you, upside down sort of way.
