Three artists

artspace @ Plant Zero, Richmond

The new work by Bangladeshi artist Halide Salam, Imaging Metaphors, will be exhibited in the Foyer and Helena Davis Galleries. Salam's paintings are responsive callings to the dialectical tensions that arise within tragedy and hope and lie on the slippery edge of cultural time. In the Main Gallery, artists Paul Bartow and Greg Stewart will exhibit their newest collaborative project, Suprastructures. Together they explore the relationship of things in the world. Their imagery, respectively, problematizes the world of things.

comunicato stampa

Richmond, VA— artspace, is pleased to announce its exhibitions for the month of November.
Artspace will feature artists Paul Bartow, Greg Stewart, and Halide Salam.

Artspace will present new work by Bangladeshi artist, Halide Salam. Imaging Metaphors will be exhibited in the Foyer and Helena Davis Galleries. Salam’s paintings are responsive callings to the dialectical tensions that arise within tragedy and hope and lie on the slippery edge of cultural time. The contextual meaning of words, letters and symbols are explored and interfaced to an inner vision in order to register within the viewer’s consciousness. There is no attempt at perspective or modeling, rather color as energy is explored for alchemic transformation into archetypal nature-forms. Salam, a PhD. of Philosophy and Master of Art, is currently a professor of art at Radford University in Virginia. Her work has been exhibited throughout the east coast of the United States, and is widely acclaimed abroad.

In the Main Gallery, artists Paul Bartow and Greg Stewart will exhibit their newest collaborative project, Suprastructures: the works of Paul Bartow and Greg Stewart. Together, Bartow and Stewart explore the relationship of things in the world. Their imagery, respectively, problematizes the world of things. Individually, both artists are interested in the connections between things, i.e. objects, images, etc., implied and literal. Their work contemplates what it is to put things together to form new linkages between meaning and structure. The practice of exploring these relationships is a type of praxis engaged in the world. This praxis imagines a meaning to come, a becoming of thought via image. This is where Bartow and Stewart position their activity as visual artists—Bartow with his drawing-paintings and Stewart with his omni-media constructions. One exploration occurs on paper as the other occurs in real space. Together their investigations compliment each other with an affinity for the complex relationship between stasis and potential. Bartow and Stewart have exhibited regularly throughout New York. Both have participated in a variety of collaborative projects as well as solo-exhibitions.
