Untold Stories of the California Gold Rush
Developed by California Council for the Humanities (CCH) in collaboration
with the Oakland Museum of California, this exhibit spotlights the
remarkable stories of individual Californios, women, Native Americans,
adventurers and gold seekers who came together during the colorful and
tumultuous Gold Rush era. The 24 exhibit panels and photomurals also examine
the impact James Marshall's discovery continues to have on all California's
people, cultures, environment, politics and economy. The exhibit is part of
CCH's "Rediscovery of California at 150" project, which commemorates the
events that led to the founding of California as a state. Courtesy of the

straight out of the 1800s will be featured throughout the museum grounds.
