The selected digital paintings of Yolanda Klappert are described by the artist as 're-compositions' or complex and sophisticated 'improvisations'. Ceramics and Clay Works by Mary McGill

Abbot Kinney Art Gallery, a new gallery in the heart of Venice, California’s thriving Abbot Kinney District and art center, currently represents a select group of 17 established and award winning contemporary artists from the greater Los Angeles area. Every month the gallery hosts a new show. The July exhibition will feature the works of digital artist, Yolanda Klappert and ceramicist, Mary McGill and special evening events are scheduled.

The selected digital paintings of Yolanda Klappert, 20 year resident of Topanga Canyon and former concert pianist, are described by the artist as “re-compositions” or complex and sophisticated “improvisations”… comparable to a “figured bass” in Baroque music…thus, every performance became a unique recreation of the composer’s canvas.” Klappert views the printed page as the composer’s canvas. Using no references, she makes intuitive decisions about movement, color and depth to create a photographic-like painting (composition) rendered on a computer. Mary McGill’s “Fire and Earth” exhibit of clay works distinguishes her unique skills as a master ceramicist. Her primary focus is the ancient Raku technique of firing clay. She throws each form on her wheel, then adds and subtracts clay to make an original piece of art, striving always for the perfection of balance and rhythm with each piece. This featured exhibit will continue through August 7th.

The galleries entire collection is eclectic and exciting with works on paper and canvas in a variety of media including 3-dimenstional wall art, ceramics, glass and sculpture. Other represented artists include: Susanne Belcher, Marylyn English, Rachel and Avidan Ross, Sandra Cooper, Linley Eathorne, Susan Gesundheit, Sarah Willman Grote, Dafna Gilboa, Lee Goldberg, Karen Hansen, Cynthia Kagan, Camey McGilvray, Darlene Mellein and m. Rheuban.
