Pari Nadimi Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of sculpture and
photography by Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky.
Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky's second solo exhibition at Pari Nadimi
Gallery includes two 1977 Cadillac hearses cast and reconstituted in black
photographic backdrop paper as thin, ashen wrecks. Also exhibited is a pair
of found objects covered in a coating of light-absorbing black flock and a
pair of photographs of silvery, reflective table top sculptures. Within the
muted gothic ambience of the exhibit, the hearses are displayed alongside
objects relating to the 1977 film Star Wars, disco balls and a paper wedding
bell. As tenuous physical presences and cultural clichés, these objects and
images interrelate formally and conceptually as an intricate pattern of
restatement, reflection, counterpoint, and negation.
